Morgantown

Beachside Family Friendly Neighborhood

"I followed my heart, and it led me to the beach." - Unknown

Morgantown is a family friendly neighborhood located in Fort Morgan and features two swimming pools, lighted tennis and pickleball courts and several beach access boardwalks.  This unique seaside community is a guest favorite and many return year after year.   Do you prefer to be beachfront, close to a pool or on a quiet cul de sac?  We offer all types of homes in a wide variety of sizes and prices.

Because the Morgantown beach is owned by the state of Alabama, we recommend following a "leave only footprints" policy.  Ideally, all items, including tents, chairs and personal items will be removed each day.

You'll enjoy strolling or biking along the quiet streets lined with pastel colored beach homes. If your vacation home is pet friendly, you'll appreciate the strategically placed "pet stations" in the neighborhood.  There are 4 beach access boardwalks for your convenience.   And if you are lucky, you'll time your visit when the Blue Angels are practicing and be treated to a private show.

Morgantown is located about a 15-20 minute scenic drive from Gulf Shores.  Close enough to take advantage of all that the area has to offer but a bit off the beaten path so you'll find fewer crowds.  All of our homes are equipped with all you'll need to prepare simple meals at home but, should you choose to dine out, here are some tasty local options:

Sassy Bass Amazin' Grill
Tacky Jacks Fort Morgan
The Coast Restaurant (Beach Club)
The Hideaway (Beach Club)
Fort Morgan Pizza
Kiva Grill (Kiva Dunes)
The Peninsula (lunch only)
Jesse's Restaurant

Browse our list of recommended eateries, on and off the peninsula, and select the one that's just right for your group, palate and budget.

Need to pick up a few groceries?  Forgot socks or sunscreen?  Officing from the beach and need a few office supplies?  We have a brand new Dollar General located less than 4 miles from the entrance to Morgantown.  You'll find an impressive grocery selection, beer and wine (coming soon) and just about everything else you can think of including beach chairs, towels and umbrellas.

Sassy Bass Marketplace is another great shopping option.  They have groceries, beer, wine and liquor and a sweet souvenir section.    Check it out before or after a tasty meal at the Amazin' Grill!

Be sure and visit historic Fort Morgan and don't miss exploring Bon Secour Wildlife Refuge.  There are several scenic hikes to choose from and you'll enjoy experiencing the local wildlife and foliage.

Up for a round or two of golf?  Check out Peninsula Golf and Racquet Club and Kiva Dunes.
