Highlights

The first thing you'll notice when you arrive at this second-tier home are the uncommonly large decks! When you are at the beach, you want to spend time outdoors enjoying the view and the sound of the surf. The Porthole makes that easy! And the home is located in the quiet beachside community of Surfside, so you'll appreciate the lighter crowds and sugar white sand beaches. Plan to stroll along the quiet tree lined streets in the evening. Or, if you prefer, bring or rent bikes and explore the neighborhood that way.

Convenient beach access is directly across the street between (not under!) the houses.

The Space

The main floor has 3 bedrooms, a living and dining area and a well-equipped kitchen with granite counter tops. There is also a TV room with a sleeper sofa that can also be used as a 5th bedroom, if you need the extra room. The laundry closet is also on this level. The bedrooms include two with King beds and one with two sets of Twin Bunks. One of the King rooms shares a Jack and Jill bath with the Twin bunk room. The other King room has a bath accessed from the hall.

The spacious primary bedroom consumes the entire upstairs. It features a King bed, balcony access and a private bath with a soaking tub, separate shower and two sinks.

Fort Morgan

Located a scenic 15 miles from Gulf Shores, you'll find everything you need close at hand. Dollar General and Sassy Bass Market are just a few miles away and have all the basics you might need. There are several restaurants nearby offering a variety of tasty dishes. Tacky Jack's, Sassy Bass (2 locations), Coast and brand-new Jesse's (opening soon) to name a few. Some venues even offer live, local entertainment.

Fort Morgan fishing pier is now open, and anglers will have access to convenient inshore fishing and the abundant species locally available.

Be sure and visit nearby Bon Secour Wildlife Refuge with over 7,000 acres of coastal habit. You'll be able to hike through the preserve and observe local flora and fauna. There are 4 trails, varying in size and terrain and you'll definitely want to make time to visit this natural oasis.

The beach house was perfect!!! So close to the beach you can sit on the huge deck and listen to the waves. Our new favorite place to stay! Coastal View staff were TERRIFIC.

We were four guys on a golf trip to Kiva Dunes. This was our fourth year and The Porthole was by far our best choice of accommodation. Spacious and clean with great decks and views. The management team went out of there way to make our stay a great one. Hopefully they'll have us back next year!

The location of this house was absolutely perfect!! Neighborhood was quiet and peaceful so if you are looking for a place to relax and enjoy the tranquility while reading a book or just chilling with friends or family, this is a great spot. There were some air conditioner issues during the week and the folks at Coastal View Vacations were great. They got air conditioner professionals out promptly and followed up to be sure we were satisfied. It took two trips for the repairmen to take care of everything, but Coastal View was very helpful and caring. Once the ac was properly repaired, time there was great. This was our third year in this house and we have reserved it again for next summer.

For a property located off the beach, this is as close as it gets! Off the beach rates for a house that has a shorter walk to the beach than most condominiums we have rented. The house was very spacious, especially the front deck, which has a great view of the Gulf! Property Management was very attentive and even pulled our trash cans to the street for us on trash day.
